“Mum I’m hungryyy!”, “Dad can we have an icecream?” You’ve heard it all before right?

When travelling as a family, feeding little hungry bellies is often high on the list of holiday priorities! From eating in to dining out, we have all of your grumbling belly needs covered.

EATING IN

To cover all your basic needs we have our very own Coconut Mini-Mart within the Resort. Alongside this our Coconut Café whips up all the family favourites from pizza and pasta to steaks and seafood, where you can dine amongst fellow holiday-makers in the casual atmosphere of the Café, or takeaway and eat within the quiet space of your cabin.

If you are venturing outside the Resort, the Southside Shopping Centre is located just a short 10 minute walk away. The small Centre contains an IGA, a newsagency, Liquor Land, Brumby's Bakery, a Fish and Chip Bar and a Thai Takeaway amongst other food and beauty outlets. Perfect if you are just after a few items!

Only a 5 minute drive north or south of the Resort you will stumble upon two major shopping centres, the Stockland Cairns Shopping Centre and Mount Sheridan Plaza Centre. Both shopping centres contain both a Coles and a Woolworths amongst many other retail stores including Target and Kmart.

Whether you’re a Coles or a Woolworths fan, you are covered as both companies offer a home delivery service. All you need is a minimum spend of $30, select a drop off time that is convenient for you (we recommend after 2:00pm on check in day!), and we will direct them to deliver straight to your accommodation. Often your first home delivery is also free!

Tip: Please use the suburb 'Woree' and the postcode '4868' when selecting your delivery options.

DINING OUT

From fine dining to a more casual experience, Cairns offers a wide array of dining options. If you haven’t made up your mind, or are unsure of what you are looking for, the first place to start would be the Cairns Esplanade. Located on the waterfront of Cairns you have the option of McDonald’s right through to fine seafood restaurants and everything in between. The Cairns Esplanade provides the perfect relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy a peaceful walk along the boardwalk, the lively feel of the Cairns Night Markets, or attempt to choose which flavoured ice cream to finish the night with from large selection of gelato and ice-creameries.

For the more laid-back outing, Cazalys and The Mount Sheridan Tavern are both located a short 5 minute drive from the Resort. Both reputable clubs offer dining, gaming and bar areas. The Mount Sheridan Tavern also provides a free Courtesy bus that is more than happy to transport your family to and from the tavern.

Splash Seafood Restaurant: Locally owned, Splash Seafood Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy the delightful marine cuisine of Tropical North Queensland.

Dundee’s Restaurant on the Waterfront: One of the best waterfront restaurants, Dundee’s serves the finest steaks, seafood, pasta’s and Australian specialist foods.

Waterbar and Grill: The Waterbar and Grill is renowned for their succulent meat, big flavours, exceptional service superb waterfront location.

Donninis: Located in the Hilton Hotel, Donninis incorporates the traditional and colourful flavours of Italian cuisine in a relaxed dining atmosphere.

Ochre Restaurant: Ochre Restaurant specialises in fresh seafood, native game, bush foods and premium local produce.

Rattle ‘n Hum: A laid back and friendly Aussie pub where you can enjoy a wood-fired pizza or a hearty steak and salad with a cosy, relaxed feel and family friendly atmosphere.

Our top 10 tips for a stress free tropical family holiday.

We understand travelling with kids under five can be difficult, but taking the family on a holiday to tropical Cairns doesn’t have to be stressful. Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort is designed to cater for young families - with so many free activities in the Resort your little ones will play all day while you sit back and relax.

So many young families holiday with us every year so we’ve put together our top 10 tips for holidaying with kids under five at Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort to ensure your holiday is stress free and full of family fun!

Plan ahead

Some of the best family holidays can be last minute, but a little bit of preparation goes a long way when travelling with young children. Speak to our team to organise a cot or high chair when booking and we’ll have it ready and waiting in your room when you arrive. While we are on the subject of planning, why don't you consider shopping at Coles online shopping. Just go to Coles Online here and put in 4868 as the postcode then select Woree from the drop down. Ask for delivery between 2 and 6 pm on the day of your arrival and give us a call on 07 40546644 to let us know. Easy!!

Keep cool in the Pool

Spend some family time at our two family-friendly pools - have a whale of a time on our whale slide at the Sun Lagoon, or swim safe in the kiddies wading pool at the Garden Pool. Plan in advance and you might just be able to book accommodation overlooking the pool!

Get wet big time!

In between swims, head over to our SPLASH Waterpark and check out the giant pineapple bucket! There is a toddlers side – away from the dumping bucket where water play and smaller slides will keep the young ones happy while older children can play on the bigger slides and face the huge dumping bucket. The kids won’t want to leave the waterpark, so take a good book and a cold drink – you might be there for a while.

Jump on in

We are famous for our Jumping Pillows and we even have the biggest Jumping Pillow in the world! But we understand that sometimes the little ones need their own space, so we have a second smaller Jumping Pillow so they have plenty of space to jump around – and Mum and Dad, we suggest you join them!

Shhhh this is still coming...

New in October 2014 our Mini Coconuts indoor play area is being specially designed for under 6 year olds and will have children playing happily for hours out of the sun (or rain!) Comfortable adult seating means you can sit and relax as you watch your little ones explore and make new friends.

Mini golf for all the family

Challenge the kids to a game of mini golf – we have adult and kid-sized golf clubs and balls available at Reception. We even have light weigh plastic clubs and balls so that the tiny tots can join in the fun in our Australiana animal themed mini golf.

Hire some toys

After a big day, sometimes it’s nice to have a little quiet time while the kids play in doors. Pack light and let local business Cairns “Hire for Baby” Equipment Hire help out. They can deliver boxes of toys, entertainment centres, strollers and car seats and have them waiting for you on arrival. Check them out on www.hireforbaby.com

All aboard!!!

For something extra special, be waiting at the Dolphin Waterfall from 4pm on selected days for a ride around the Resort on the Big Red Fire Engine! Mums and Dads are welcome to come for a ride too. Playground the size of a tennis court

No family holiday would be complete without a playground, and ours is HUGE! From the toddlers end through to the teen rangers equipment there is something for all the family. So pack the sunscreen and the hats and be ready to play for hours.
